"We learn more from failure than from success."

Principles of Failure is a collection of thoughts and ideas about things I’m interested in. It is intended to be a source of both information and entertainment. The contents are fluid and varied, arising organically out of my life experiences and concerns.

I am curious about many things, a few of which are:

  • Art
  • Technology
  • Leadership
  • Ambiguity and uncertainty
  • Storytelling
  • Social connectedness
  • Philosophy
  • Empathy
  • Economics
  • Design

Many of the essays on Principles of Failure contain personal stories and anecdotes. As every memoirist must, I have taken liberties with the facts to both protect the identity of other people and to condense the narration. Often multiple events, experiences and people are amalgamated to facilitate a point and to move the story along.

At a minimum these accounts represent an “enhanced reality” and if you are a stickler for accuracy you will likely be more comfortable thinking of them as pure fiction based on personal experience rather than as a factual account of my life.

I enjoy lively discussions on almost any topic though I tend to avoid people who get emotional about politics or religion. I have my own opinions on these subjects but I try not to share them here.

I’m happy to engage with others through email or any of the social sites listed below.
